The Sandbox

The Sandbox was co-founded by Arthur Madrid, and Sebastien Borget . Both founders have a strong background in software development and gaming, having previously worked on Pixowl, a mobile gaming studio. The current blockchain version of The Sandbox was developed to make it possible for true ownership of in-game assets using blockchain and NFTs. One of the project’s historical milestones was its initial exchange offering (IEO) in August 2020 where the project raised $3 million at a token price of $0.0083 The platform has since gained significant partnerships with major brands and evolved its gameplay and offerings extensively.

The Sandbox features a virtual world where users can create, share, and monetize assets and gaming experiences, making use of smart contracts to manage ownership and transactions, which may take minutes to confirm based on Ethereum's current block time. Although TPS (transactions per second) is dictated by Ethereum, The Sandbox integrates layer-2 solutions like Polygon to optimize transaction fees and speed. The Sandbox's functionality relies heavily on NFTs to represent ownership and the economy within its metaverse.
